If you haven't seen by my latest twitter pictures, I'm in Ibiza! It's currently the end of day four and I know I said I wouldn't be baking in the sun this year and you'll (my mother included) be happy to hear I've been laying responsibly, with a high SPF, for only a couple of hours each day.

Although I know it's a very necessary step I find it extremely tedious! I can't be the only one? I've been slapping on some great products this year and although when I reach France this will all probably change, here's my daily tan plan...
Firstly, a little pre holiday tan prep as of the last two weeks I've been religiously preparing my skin for the sun using some pretty clever tan promoters - link to post here. I'm not one for speaking too soon but I think these little helpers have really worked! My skin is less sensitive to the sun, doesn't flame up and go red and so far no burns!

Institute Estederm has been an avid part of my tanning routine since I can remember, purely because I would use whatever was in my mothers cabinet (obviously my prebeauty obsessive days) and you know what, it's actually a fantastic brand. It doesn't work in the same way as your usual sun protectors but instead uses ingredients to help your skin adapt to it's environment and use the sun in beneficial ways. I've been using cult product Adaptasun Tanning Body Lotion Strong Sun which doesn't leave that white layer over the skin or any sort of sticky feeling.

For more sensitive areas or burnt bits of skin, like my chest, I've been using Photo Reverse High Pigmented Skin Fluid, just to be on the safe side and add that little bit of protecting. I always seem to miss out applying sun protection to my knees which have gone a little red, so sun block as well as french miracle product Biafine which I've decanted into a little tub for emergencies!

Facewise if I'm sitting in the sun I've been using Chantecaille Ultra Sun Protection SPF 50 Anti-Gycation Primer, which I wrote about fully here, purely because it leaves no white overlay and if I'm wearing a bit of makeup I've been applying Supergoop SPF 30 City Sunscreen Serum as it has added skincare benefits.

After the day of tanning is over I've been reaching for two products. One of which is my favourite after sun from french brand Lierac, which I will definitely be picking up more of when I'm there in a couple of weeks (especially as this one I picked up last summer and is about ten months old! Whoops!) it seems to be doing the trick none the less, and feels very cooling on the skin.

Another one of my mothers finds is the Clarins After Sun Moisturiser Self Tanning, which I've only used once and it just added a hint of a glow, nothing too noticeable but a great one for starting the holiday. I'm quite tempted by the St Tropez version which I left sitting at home as I suspect it will have more of a fake tan but hopefully by the end of the holiday I won't be needed either!

Any other tanning products you recommend?
