Not only cute and pretty the Beauty Blender has been a saviour for many evenings where photography has been involved to ensure flawless makeup. It's essentially a sponge, even though that word puts me off completely as it reminds me of hard solid material that cakes on makeup. Unlike my expectation the Beauty Blender has a soft squidgy texture that feels lovely on the skin.
The shape is perfect for the contours of the face, the pointed tip around the eyes and nose and the rounded bottom for doing larger areas like the face. In terms of application the best way to use it is damp. I normally run it under cold water until it expands, squeeze out the excess with my hands and continue to wrap it in a towel and squeeze again to get rid of any excess water.
As opposed to the typical dragging it on the skin I prefer using bouncing, pressing and tapping motions to really blend my foundation and concealer into the skin. I tend to use it most after applying foundation for truly making sure everything is blended it, going over my face with the sponge. Blending out concealer under my eyes is what it works best for as it ensures no streaky lines or unevenness - perfect for photos! This method my makeup stay in place a lot longer, especially when using powder.
There's just one drawback - using the Beauty Blender is something that takes up a lot of time so I do save it for special occasions, it's not my usual method of choice purely because it's so time consuming! They last a good 6 months before they get trulely mucky, I'm on to my second one already.
They aren't the easiest to get your mitts on if you're in the UK but I purchase mine from Guru Makeup Emporium for £16 here
Have you ever tried the Beauty Blender?
PS - Appologies for it being a little grubby - at least you can tell it's loved!
