More often than not I'm a little disappointed with products, there will always be something I don't like or something that can be improved but this is all about the products I absolute adore, ones that produce results and work magic.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Extreme
I'll be forever grateful for this hair mask as it saved my hair when it was in its worst condition, so dry and damaged I could hardly style it and after a couple months of weekly treatments it looked less straw-like and much more bouncy. I'll keep this in damp hair overnight and wash my hair the next morning for super soft manageable locks.

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil (post here
I'm not usually too fussed about what's in my shower but this is the one product I will actually hunt down. I've never tried a shower oil like it, it's an oil that emulsifies with water and turns into a moisturising paste. Perfect for winter where it leaves skin so moisturised and nourished!

Darphin Aromatic Purifying Balm
Something new in my stash of favourites is this balm, which I've been religiously using on dehydrated skin overnight and awake stroking my plump, smooth and soft face. It's been working absolute miracles on those pesky blemishes by keeping redness at bay and speeding up healing time. More on this later... stay tuned!

Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm For Lips (post here)
A thick layer of this will solve even the driest of lips. Even though this isn't running out anytime soon I already have a back up, just so I'm never without it!

Xen Tan Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe (post here)
Applied just before bed and washed off in the morning, produces the most beautiful colour around. Not too orange and has the perfect olive undertone that will last just under a week before it starts to fade or go patchy.

Dior Lash Serum & Primer (post here)
A couple coats of this before mascara helps lashes appear longer and thicker and lengthened (without clumping!) Love!

Bliss Lid and Lash Wash Makeup Remover (post here
When you're a smokey eye wearer like I am removing all that heavy eye makeup can become quite the chore. Something that makes it a little easier is Bliss Lid + Lash Wash Eye Make Up Remover which melts eye makeup off in one swipe, without pulling or tugging at my lashes or leaving an oily residue.

Before Dr Lewinns ReNunail (left) After Dr Lewinns ReNunail (right)
Dr LeWinns ReNunail Nail Strengthener (post here)
I've never managed to find a nail treatment that's actually done wonders for my nails but this totally saved them. My nails wouldn't grow past a certain (stumpy) point without breaking or chipping and after two uses of this treatment (as recommended) I ended up with total claws!

Essie Fiji is currently collecting dust in a box as it’s time for the more seasonal appropriate polishes to come out. Enter a love affair with warm berries, nudes and even a blue!
Essie Recessionista Swatch
Essie Wicked Swatch

My favourite pick out of the bunch has got to be, Essie Recessionista, part of their fall collection and the perfect berry shade, lighter than Essie Wicked which sometimes almost looks black.

Avon Nailwear Pro+ in Vintage Boutique Swatch
I absolutely love Avon's affordable polishes, my summer favourite was Pink Pastel and fall has got to be this Nailwear Pro+ in Vintage Boutique, a dark taupe shade.

YSL La Laque Couture in 14 Violine Surrealiste Swatch
My first YSL polish is an absolute gorgeous shade, 14 Violine Surrealiste pleased to report it lasts well on the nails and has a similar  fan brush to the Essie diffusion line so a couple of coats does the trick and easy to apply on oneself.

Topshop Awol Swatch
Topshop Awol is a shade I wouldn't normally see myself wearing but fell in love with the bright electric blue.

Dior 413 Grege Swatch
Part of Dior’s new Nude collection comes this gorgeous shade, 413 Grege which is the perfect nude. I can see this gracing my nails in Summer too but I just couldn't wait!

What shades have been gracing your nails this fall?

We all have cravings, some more than others, but due to my friends blue eyelashes catching my eye the other night my craving from then on was blue mascara. Coloured mascara isn't something new to me, I dabbled in violet from the L'Oreal Luminizer range sometime last year as an attempt to enhance brown eyes, which failed pretty quickly, but bright shocking stare-at-my-eyes noticeable blue is something I could be interested in!

For my journey into blue mascara I picked up Collection Colour Lash Mascara in Blue, which did the trick, but as my obsession progressed I picked up Dior Diorshow Mascara in Azure Blue, which is a bright shocking pigmented blue. Stunning. I've been keeping my eyes pretty bare so all focus is on the blue mascara, as well as having blush to one side here's what I've been wearing on blue mascara days...

Collection Colour Lash Mascara in Blue (left) Dior DiorShow Mascara in 258 Azur Blue (right)

Collection Colour Lash Mascara in Blue (left) Dior DiorShow Mascara in 258 Azur Blue (right)
Skin
- The latest natural foundation love of mine, Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion, but more on that later... paired with a bit of contouring with Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate

Eyes
- As the whole blue lashes phase isn't exactly natural I wanted my lashes to be spiky and thick which Dior Diorshow Mascara in Azure Blue achieved perfectly. Collection Colour Lash Mascara in Blue was more of a natural look.

Lips
- 17 Mirror Shine Lipstick in Belle

Have you ever dabbled in coloured mascara?

There are a few products that I adore so much I wouldn't even have to think about if I would repurchase them. In fact I love them that much I end up hoarding doubles, just incase that lipgloss or concealer comes to an end and I'm left running to find a replacement.
Currently only two haircare products are worthy of the back up plan, Oribe Dry Texturising Spray, of which I have a large bottle for my dressing table and a smaller handbag sized. Whenever I opt out of using this in my hair the difference in volume is phenomenal. It provides lift in my hair like no other as well as adding texture. Not only is Ojon Rare Blend Oil the most beautiful hair oil around it's also nourishing, tames frizz and leaves hair smelling amazing.

Three mascaras I couldn't see myself living without...
1. Dior DiorShow Lash Serum & Primer - I apply before mascara to lengthen, thicken and give the appearance of longer lashes
2. MaxFactor False Lash Effect Mascara - is an absolute drugstore gem, that manages to take my lashes from short stumpy lashes to long and fluttery.
3. L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black - I normally add as a boost after any mascara as it adds the most incredible volume and seems to work well with any formula

For my chapped lips Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm For Lips does the trick for bringing cracked lips back to plumpy, it's a bit of a sticky ointment so reserves a place on the bedside table for overnight use. Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Lucky is one I had to search Space NK stores desperate to get my hands on some back ups. It's the most beautiful peachy pink with a golden shimmer running through it that illuminates the lips making them appear fuller.

Avon SuperShock Gel Liner is the most incredible gel eyeliner around, it lasts the better part of 8 hours on my waterline and has an unbelievably creamy formula that's easy to blend out but once set it won't budge.

For concealer my two couldn't-live-without favourites are, By Terry Touche Veloutee and Collection Lasting Perfection, nothing beats these. Touche Veloutee gets swept under my eyes for concealing bags as it has the most lightweight formula and invisible texture. Lasting Perfection anywhere else like covering redness as it's pretty full coverage and blendable.

So there you have it, my backups. Favourite products, these truly ones I could not even dream of being without.

Do you own any backups? What would yours be?

Formal lunches can be a two to three hour affair, iPhones are left unattended, emails get disguarded and running to the bathroom for a touch up isn't an option. In terms of makeup, of course lunch means little lip action going on, there's nothing worse than a ring of pink lipstick on your glass. I kept my makeup pretty simple, my routine when-in-doubt face with nothing too fancy going on. Same goes for my hair, no poofy volume or ringlet curls, just good old simple blow-dry.

Skin
- I wanted my skin to look as natural as possible so started of with Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer as a base to ensure shine stayed at bay. I then followed with Dior DiorSkin Airflash Foundation for a luminous finish that provides coverage.
- Under my eyes I used a combination of L'Oreal Lumi Magique with Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
- To define my cheeks I used the Une Healthy Glow Mineral Powder and a touch of Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lush Nectarine

Eyes
- The shade Pale Barley by Burberry is the perfect all over the lid shade that doesn't crease, is really pigmented and lasts throughout the day. I added a little colour to my socket with Mac Cork and smudged some of the darker shade Mac Carbon along my lash line.
- Pixi Lash Line Ink added some extra definition as I lined my eyes and finished off with Origins Ginesing Brightening Mascara

Lips
- I left my lips pretty nude throughout the lunch but before I arrived swept a coat of Benefit Ultra Plush Gloss in Dandelion as it doesnt last long on the lips and isn't sticky at all

What's your routine face?

Following this Beauty On Location here's the bag I've been filling up that includes everything I use to carry out a post work touch up. It's more of a re-face really as in the evenings I like to add a little more drama to my eyes, some darker eyeshadow and liquid eyeliner. Followed by touching up my skin, which more often than not isn't looking its best by 7pm. This bag only gets taken around when post work commitments are arising.

To touch up foundation Dior Airflash Spray Foundation (post here) gets a quick spritz over my skin followed by a dusting Becca Mineral Pressed Powder down my t-zone. If my tremendous under eye bags start to come on show By Terry Touche Veloutee (post here) is what conceals them. Lastly Topshop Bronzer in Break Of Day gets swept over my cheekbones to provide some colour and glow.

For adding definition to my eyes I rely on a handy little compact like Chanel Eyeshadow Duo in 37 Sable Emouvant. The colour combination is perfect for adding a quick smokey eye. Next up is Pixi Lash Line Ink which gets drawn as close to my lashes as possible for added definition. If mascara is in need of a touch up, I'll throw in a mini sample - here its Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Excess

The lip combination varies daily but currently Revlon Super lustrous Lipstick in 001 Nude Attitude with Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector that has been gracing my lips. Another item that's thrown into the mix is a Travalo which contains my favourite perfume, Laura Mercier Fresh Fig.

Do you have a routine for post work touch ups?

The point of beauty products is something I often forget - how they are made purely to enhance natural assets.  Lets face it, there's nothing natural about my often intense smokey eye makeup or an orange lip.  In all honesty, I feel weird without looking like I've got some sort of makeup on, heavy mascara, lipgloss or some peachy pink blush. During my lazy days I tend to take it all back to basics, no blush, no fancy pants eyelashes just me and a couple other products.

Skin
Using the Dior Airflash Foundation (post here) followed by By Terry Touche Veloutee with Une Healthy Glow Mineral Powder (post here) as a bronzer to add a little dimention to my face

Eyes
For my eyes I simply used a matte black eyeshadow to line the outer corners. I wanted to make my eyes appear less round so brought the line quite far out - helping to elongate my eyes. I then went on to apply mascara - Max Factor False Lash Effect

Lips
Sticking with the natural theme I used a matte nude coloured lip liner all over my lips which was a recent purchase, L'Oreal Infallible Lip Liner in 708 Always Toasted

It's not often my lips aren't coated with lipgloss or my eyes with eyeshadow, but here's the rare occasion that it did - don't expect to see this happening anytime again soon      ;)

Something that won't come as a surprise to many of you is the fact that my most loved products in the past month are mostly holiday themed. Thanks to the humidity it's been mostly about skin and hair this month as opposed to makeup. For the rare evening that I apply makeup it's been the same products all month!

Xen Tan Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe - post here
In sunlight it's pretty difficult to pass fake tan off as real. This stuff is easily the most natural fake tan around! Applied with a mitt and buffed into the skin gives the most natural finish that lasts around 6-7 days. Didn't streak in the heat and has a gorgeous olive (as opposed to orange) undertone.

Yes To Carrots Body Butter - post here
Unlike your average body butter as it dries matte, as opposed to leaving you feeling sticky. Left my skin feeling silky smooth almost to the point where I couldn't stop stroking my arms ;)

L'Oreal Studio Matte & Messy - post here
This salt-spray provides instant texture and lift, giving my hair a messy 'lived in' effect with such ease. Perfect for days at the beach or just in general a lazy hair day. It's a fantastic dupe for the Bumble & Bumble's Surf Spray too!

Klorane Conditioner With Pomegranate
Really balmy and moisturising, smells amazing and leaves hair tangle free. My sister & I went through 2 bottles of this stuff in the past month - it's addictive!

Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment - post here
A recent hair mask discovery that leaves my hair feeling instantly softer, shinier and feel much more hydrated - in one use! This is a mini size but I will definitely be picking up the full size soon!

Dior DiorSkin Airflash Spray Foundation - post here
I've been relying on Dior's spray foundation for giving me a flawless base. It's a spray foundation which means the finish is much more natural as opposed to the usual liquid or powder. The spray lightly mists the face to leave a semi-matte but glowing finish that lasts hours! Major plus point - the total application time is around 5 seconds!

Mac Style Blush - post here
One of the most stunning blushes I've ever come across! It's absolutely beautiful on the skin. The golden finely milled shimmer running through it helps fake that 'lit from within' glow and aids enhancing a tan.

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows - post here
Everything I look for in an eyeshadow - pigmented, blendable, creamy and lovely metallic shades!

Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Lucky - post here
As much as I've looked, there doesn't seem to be another lipgloss as beautiful as this. A lovely peachy pink shade with tiny flecks of golden shimmer running through it that reflect the light and highlight the lips, making them appear fuller.

When it comes to an evening makeup look smokey eyes are what I favour. No surprises here, but in holiday time where I'm cutting back on makeup I tend to apply something a little lighter and more summer appropriate, nothing like this makeup here. I do like to have a little eye makeup on, especially for the evenings and this look is perfect for something a little natural yet smokey at the same time.

For my skin I've been loving some added glow curtsey of Mac Style blush and a recent Sephora purchase, Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights in Baked Starburst. The combination of the two makes it look as though I've been in the sun for days when really I've been hiding behind a hat and factor 30-50.      ;)

Skin
- Sprayed on a light layer of Dior DiorSkin Airflash Foundation which I've proclaimed my summer saviour (review here) followed by Mac Style Blush and Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights in Bakes Starburst

Eyes
- Chanel eyeshadow duo in 37 Sable - Emouvant, which is from their summer collection and is just a simple easy set perfect for creating a smokey eye. I then lined my upper lash line with Eyeko Skinny Liner and applied another recent purchase of mine, Make Up For Ever Smokey Lash Mascara, which I don't think does anything too spectacular. Just lengthens and adds a touch of volume, nothing as much as Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill or Max Factor Mascaras.

Lips
- Of course, what did you expect, Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Lucky! I'm almost out of this stuff which would mean a huge record for me, the first lip gloss I've ever finished!

Hope you're having a great week!

Dior DiorShow Airflash Foundation £33
There's one item I have been unable to stop singing it's praises during my lazy girl holiday time - Dior DiorShow Airflash Foundation. This is a repurchase of mine, I didn't get along well with it a couple of years ago but after Jamie Coombs, Dior's Top Makeup Artist used it on me here back in March, I had to give it another go as the finish made my skin look absolutely incredible.

Dior Airflash foundation is something I've been using everyday as being a spray foundation, it allows me to apply base in under 5 seconds - record timing!

In terms of application, the bottle needs to be given a little shake first, the spray is very simple to use and lightly mists the face. Sprayed around 20cm away from the face. Despite my expectation of thinking it would end up all over my clothes and hair it was an absolute dream to apply. The spray mists the face so evenly proving a light to medium buildable coverage with a semi-matte but glowing finish. I do need to blend in edges like around the nose and edge of my face, which I do with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush. As it does cling to eyebrow and eyelash hairs applying it before eye makeup is necessary.

The coverage I desire on a day to day basis is medium so one spray all over the face and an extra layer on my cheeks provides the perfect finish for me. I absolutely LOVE the look of my skin after using this, so airbrushed and flawless and as it contains no SPF (no flash-back) it's perfect for photos too!

Without primer Dior Diorshow Airflash Foundation will last around 6 hours on my combination skin before looking in need of a touch up and of course this increased by a couple hours when paired with Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer (post here)

I'm currently using the shade 300 Medium Beige which is perfect for summer where I'm a little more tanned. My previous bottle being a winter shade, 200. The shade range isn't the best as there are only 5 shades to choose from. You get an usual amount of 70ml as opposed to the usual 30ml but I do feel as its a spray I end up going through more. That said at £33 for 70ml, is reasonable for a high end foundation, especially considering YSL's latest release (post here) was £28 for 30ml.

Overall medium buildable coverage, flawless skin finish, good lasting power - my summer must have! I honestly can't sing it's praises enough! Who knows...It may even replace my all time favourite, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk....

With the Olympics providing us all with an amazing fortnight, I'm going to save my soppy proud to be British thoughts to myself and of course, relate it all back to beauty! All these medals got me thinking and as I took a look at my excessive stash and decided on 3 items that deserve an extra little mention as they've been most reached for recently as they always deliver the results I would like!

Bronze: Real Techniques Buffing Brush (post here)
Something I rarely talk about yet it's such a vital part of my routine! There are rare days when I don't reach for this whether it's for applying foundation, blending concealer or applying bronzer it just leaves me with the most airbrushed finish! I don't know what I would do without it...
By the way! If you're unable to get hold of Real Techniques Brushes the Sephora Mineral Powder Brush is a very similar alternative      :)

Silver: Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment (post here)
How did I finish this little tub so fast? It's next on my 'to purchase' list as it's absolutely amazing at nourishing hair, leaving it so tame, smooth and all round in instantly better condition. As it's a solid formula that melts into an oil I don't feel as though I'm wasting any product too! Love!

Gold: Dior DiorShow Airflash Foundation
For the rare days I've been reaching for foundation this has been my one of choice as it's a spray so my base can be applied in a total of 4 seconds! Apart from being a total time saviour and lazy girl option it leaves a glowing matte finish and lasts well on my skin, especially in the heat! Expect a full review but for now it's getting gold!

What are your Bronze Silver & Gold beauty items?

Please tell me I'm not the only one that becomes unbelievably lazy on holiday?! Suddenly my usual excitement of applying a smokey eye becomes somewhat of a drag to the point where I wish I could come off the beach and look semi-decent in a matter of minutes, which is, of course, not the case. Out come the lazy girl products that consist of:

1) a spray foundation which allows me to apply my base in a matter of seconds
2) cream eyeshadows that hardly require a mirror let alone a brush
3) that blush/bronzer/highligher product I've been raving about for a while. Yes, you guessed it, Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel is Sable Rose
Baggy dresses also become my clothing of choice as they require no thought of putting something together while looking summery! This one, from Parker at Shop Bop is very light and weightless - great for hot summer evenings      ;)

Skin
- My lazy girl holiday face has even caused me to ditch the primer, madness I know, but the Dior DiorShow Airflash Foundation will last around 6 hours on my skin before it needs a bit of powdering, perfect for one evening!
- For concealer the usual By Terry Touche Veloutee (post here) followed by Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel in Sable Rose (post here)

Eyes
- Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Eyeshadow in Sandy Gold (post here) with Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadow in 15 (post here) along my crease and Avon SuperShock Gel Eyeliner in Blackberry (post here) along my lash line
- Coated my lashes in Lancome Hypnose Star (post here)

Lips
- Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Lucky (post here)

I've become a bit more religious with my skincare routine this month, trying to take everything back to basics and learning a little more about what goes into my products. That said I've decided to turn to my favourite brand, Ren which are now the majority of my skincare routine. I've only been using my new bits for a week so it's too soon to tell but I will be sure to let you ladies know! In the meantime here's what I've been loving this month...

Neal's Yard Bee Lovely Hand Cream
Part of their new Bee Lovely range and my favourite item is the Neal's Yard Bee Lovely Hand Cream. It's not sticky, really moisturising and smells incredible. Neal's Yard will be donating 5% of sales to charities that support awareness of the decline in our precious pollinators too!

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleansing Balm
I've raved about my love for cleansing balms, how the don't strip the skin and remove makeup easily here but the Amazing Face Cleansing Balm is my latest favourite, purely because of the scent! It doesn't sting eyes too which means it can be used all over the face and removes makeup with such ease.

Ojon Dry Recover Conditioner - post here
I was more than happy to return back to my favourite condition after the ends of my hair drying out a little on holiday. This is by far the favourite conditioner I have ever used! Smells amazing, really nourishing and helps detangle hair easily.

Institut Estederm UV Incellium Bronzant & Adaptasun - post here & here
My usual tanning routine every summer consists of Institut Estederm but this time I added UV InCellium Bronzant into the mix, which claims to adapt your skin to the sun and prepare it for the rays. I don't want to speak too soon but so far so good - I didn't burn!

Melvita Eye Makeup Remover - post here
With all this waterproof mascara I'm applying I've been reaching for Melvita which removes it with such ease and there's no need to rub and tug against my eyes!

Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti Blemish Mask
I'm not sure what's happening to my skin at the moment, if it's just being a bit hormonal or I haven't properly been removing all the SPF I've been wearing but I've come out with a few blemishes. Something that I've been dabbing on them overnight is the Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti Blemish Mask which seems to be doing a good job of keeping them at bay whilst reducing redness.

Instutue Estederm Pure System Shine Control Fluid - post here
As it's been a little hotter I've been a little shinier so I've been reaching for a mattifying primer, I've raved about this fully here, but it's gel texture really helps keep shine at a minimum and is a perfect base for foundation

Yes To Carrots Body Butter - post here
This was an outstanding body butter that came in a Travel Essentials set from Yes To and the full size has already been added to my list as it's really nourishing, not sticky and dries matt so there's no need for waiting around before putting clothes on!

Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser
I'm still in two minds about this product, yes it's amazing, gives flawless coverage, lasts well throughout the day but is it worth the price tag of £55? I'm still deciding but for now it's my go-to summer product that I've been reaching for everyday for its weightless finish and healthy glow.

Dior DiorSkin Nude Tan Powder - post here
For when I don't want to cake myself in powder but just add a light sweeping this is what I've been reaching for, very light in texture and gives a flawless finish - love!

Lancome Hypnose Star - post here
I'm definitely one for thick dramatic lashes and my latest discovery - Lancome Hypnose Star has been gracing my lashes for the majority of this month. It's very similar to my favourite mascara Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill (post here) but a tad more dramatic.

What have you been loving this month?

Thursday, July 12, 2012

Making the week go by a little quicker is easier when there are evening plans involved no?! Here was just a casual dinner with friends at La Bodega Negra in London, which I really recommend if you're into Mexican!

I went for jeans, some boots and a new Peplum top of mine from Topshop - link! Even though when I first started seeing them around I thought they were very "un-me" I've now done a complete 180 and become a convert - so much so that I ordered two other colours! I absolutely love the silhouette they create, adding some curves yet being tight in other places. My favourite part about them is pairing with some statement jewellery - like this necklace! It's also great if you're going for a big meal.      ;)

For my makeup I went for something new - no smokey eye! Shock horror, just a little definition on my lower lash line with some brown eyeshadow. I kept my skin pretty glowy by skipping the powder and opted for something I dusted out of my stash, Dior Amber Diamond Highlighter, which is one of the most beautiful pieces in my collection. I stuck on some of my favourite false lashes too - Katy Perry Eylure in Oh Honey, they add a lot of length and some extra volume yet aren't too in your face.

Skin
- My newest favourite combination of Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer (link to post here)  followed by YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation. I then used the darker shade of my Sleek Contour Kit through my cheekbones with a little bit of Mac Peaches blush
- The star of the glow show is Dior Amber Diamond which I've gotten back into after a good 6 months of it sitting collecting dust, isn't it lovely!

Eyes
- Sweeping a light shimmer shade all over my lid, Mac Ploof with Naked and Buck from the Urban Decay Naked Palette in the crease, for some added definition.
- On my lower lash line I swept some of Darkhorse shade followed by Dior DiorShow New Look Mascara on my lower lashes
- After curling my lashes with my Shu Uemura eyelash curlers I applied some Eylure Katy Perry False Lashes in Oh Honey which you can see closer pictures of here

What do you think? Yes or no to peplum tops?
